One of the things we want to make clear is the setting of the protest this Friday. The demonstration takes place in the 6000 block of Santa Monica Boulevard, in front of the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. To be clear: we will not be on the cemetery grounds. We will be outside on Santa Monica Boulevard, where we’ll be blocking off the street.
The intent behind staging the protest in front of the cemetery (rather than, say, the Ronald Reagan Building downtown) was to illustrate the death of compassion and common sense in Sacramento. How else would you explain Governor Schwarzenegger’s proposal to rashly cut $80 million from the state’s HIV programs?
Our thanks to the wonderful people at Hollywood Forever Cemetery for working with us in these last few frenzied days. They’ve been very understanding and great to work with. If you haven’t already, you should check out the Saturday night screenings held on the cemetery grounds at www.cinespia.org.
If you have any questions about the protest on June 5th, please email me at RNolledo@apla.org, or call me at 213-785-1993. Thanks, everyone!
